Residents of a village in Peterborough could see a new housing development built on their doorstep, according to plans.
A planning application submitted to Peterborough City Council seeks outline permission for up to 55 properties on land to the east of St Martins Road in Newborough.
If approved, the proposed site would feature a new access route including improved footpath links into the village and the adjoining cricket club.
The latest proposals comes after a previous application for 65 dwellings, reduced from 72, was refused.
The revised application seeks to address "concerns" highlighted by planning officers over the location of the development, highways impacts and harms to the character of the area.

The applicant, Minster Property Group, said it would address the previous reasons for refuge and "put forward" a case for appoving the proposed development.
According to original plans, the site would feature a mixture of affordable rent and shared ownership properties.
Approximately a quarter of the site would be left undeveloped doubling up as public open space and the "requisite drainage attenuation area."

The revised plans said the development of the 55 homes would assist in "making up a shortfall of affordable homes" in Newborough and the wider area.
They added the homes would "provide a robust landscape buffer" to improve the overally approach into the village.
The application can be viewed on Peterborough City Council’s planning portal using reference 24/01369/FUL.
