A huge donation will fund technical theatre training for young people in Peterborough.
The National Lottery Community Fund's contribution will enable a specialised course in lighting, sound, and event management to be offered in Cambridgeshire.
The initiative, led by Jack Hunt School, will benefit 25 young people, providing them with hands-on experience each week at both the school and the Young Technicians Academy in Yaxley.
Angela King, curriculum leader for drama, said: “I am very excited that we have been successful in our National Lottery community funding bid and that we will be working with the Young Technicians team.
"This funding will have a significant positive impact on the life chances of young people and their future careers.”
Dr Ian Young, CEO of Peterborough Keys Academies Trust (PKAT), added: “Through this program, students and young people of the community will gain valuable skills and knowledge that can support their GCSE and A-Level drama studies, as well as enhance performances both at school and within the wider community.”
The Young Technicians Academy offers industry-relevant training and qualifications for the creative industries.
