A snap-happy street photographer has released his second book capturing candid moments of dogs.

The 71-year-old author of Barking!, released in 2019, has now published Barking 2 due to popular demand.

The book includes more than 200 new pictures of dogs from the UK and America.

In contrast to typical dog books, the subjects in Barking 2 are not posed but captured in motion, showcasing the photographer's street photography style.

However, he admitted that his failures in capturing the perfect shot could fill another book a thousand times over.

For his first book, he visited Barking in London four times to get a picture.

He soon discovered that London parks, weekend seaside trips, and events like Dog Fest at Burghley House in Stamford were more fruitful.

Despite being primarily a street photographer focusing on people, he finds similarities between humans and dogs, which makes capturing them enjoyable.

He said: "They are immensely curious and come in all shapes and sizes, scruffy, dapper, posh, pretty and not, bold and shy.

"They come sniffing around me and my camera and fortunately most are friendly except for an occasional cocked leg, snarl and a growl."

His unique style involves getting up close and personal at the dog's level, often excluding the owners from the frame.

He said: "I mostly cut the owners out as the dogs are the stars of the show and often more interesting."
