A man has been jailed for two years after he gave police officers and magistrates a false name and address.
Eimantas Zemeliauskas, 22, was first arrested on December 24 after he was caught drink driving.
At Thorpe Wood Police Station he provided officers with a false name and address.
He was released but appeared before magistrates on January 19 for the drink driving offence, where he once again provided a false name and address.
On April 3, Zemeliauskas was again arrested by officers, this time for driving whilst disqualified.
He provided police with the same false name and address, attended magistrates’ court under his alias and was given a year-long court order.
However, it became clear to officers that Zemeliauskas had been using false details after he was the victim of an unrelated assault and contacted police using his correct details.
Police searched Zemeliauskas’ Facebook account which confirmed his real identify and revealed a “friend” with the same name as his alias.
Zemeliauskas, of no known address, was arrested again on September 24 for breaching his court order and for attempting to pervert the course of justice.
At Cambridge Crown Court on Friday October 25, he was jailed for two years after pleading guilty to two counts of perverting the course of justice.
PC Courtney Mapes, who investigated, said: “Zemeliauskas thought he was going to get away with his crimes.
“He provided false details not only to police officers, but also the court, on multiple occasions, brazenly signing documents using a false name and address.
“His sentence shows how seriously attempts to thwart the legal process are taken.”
