The Amazon fulfilment centre in Peterborough has donated £4,000 to Peterborough College to fund a community garden.
To mark the donation, volunteers from Amazon in Peterborough spent time working on the garden at Peterborough College.
Vadim Bejenari is one of the Amazon employees who volunteered. He said: “We had a great day helping to create the community garden, and we hope the green space provides a real boost to staff, students and local residents.”
Matthew Anderson from Peterborough College added: “We really appreciate what Amazon has done for us. The new garden looks fantastic and is a great asset for the students.
"Students are already excited to grow plants in the spring and will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning, enhancing their understanding of nature and sustainability.
The garden will not only beautify Peterborough College but also serve as an outdoor classroom that fosters creativity and a sense of community.”
Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities where it operates.
Amazon co-founded the Multibank initiative with former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown to support families in need. The initiative has donated more than 3 million surplus goods to over 400,000 families across Scotland, Wales, Greater Manchester, and London.
Amazon has supported more than 700,000 students across the UK with free STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer and helps community organisations transport meals and other essentials to families in need through its pro bono logistics programme, Amazon Local Good.
