A sex offender was found to be breaching a strict court order after officers spotted him walking in the street with a Stanley knife and drill.

Dylon McGregor was seen with another man in Lincoln Road, Peterborough, at about 4am on 19 July, by officers on patrol.

They stopped and searched both men as McGregor, 33, was carrying a drill and was also found to have a metal coat hanger hook and a Stanley knife in his pocket.

McGregor, of no known address, provided a false name and was later found to have breached Sex Offenders Register notification requirements by failing to notify police about his whereabouts and personal details.

He admitted possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and two breaches of Sex Offenders Register notification requirements and was jailed for eight months at Cambridge Crown Court on Tuesday (1 October).

PC Aisha Malik, who investigated, said “McGregor had no reason to be wandering the streets in the early hours of the morning carrying weapons.

“Not only that but breaching his Sex Offenders Register requirements showed he failed to take his previous punishment seriously.”
