A man having a reaction to a suspected drug overdose in Peterborough was saved thanks to a nasal spray used by police.
While on patrol of the city centre last week, officers were stopped by a member of the public who raised concerns for a man.
Police went to speak with him and found he was having a reaction to a suspected drug overdose.
While waiting for an ambulance, they stayed with the man and called for one of their colleagues to attend with naloxone – a nasal spray which reverses the effect of opioids during an overdose.
"Thanks to the quick thinking of ourselves and the paramedics, who administered the spray, the man was okay, and we left him in the safe hands of the paramedics," said a spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Constabulary.
