Peterborough's Jumped Up Theatre has been awarded a £210,000 grant from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation to expand its programmes for young people over the next three years.
This funding will support the creation of new live performance experiences and foster creativity among children and young people across the city.
The grant will help Jumped Up Theatre implement a range of creative projects for young people of all ages and reinforces the organisation’s commitment to enhancing opportunities for youth in Peterborough.
Kate Hall, Jumped Up’s Producer, said: “This grant is a fantastic opportunity for us to deepen our engagement with young people, educational institutions and young people in Peterborough.
“We will collaborate with other organisations to provide creative experiences that promote wellbeing and equip young people with skills for diverse careers.”
Young people interested in connecting with Jumped Up can find them at the Queensgate Centre on Saturday September 28, for their Style Stories exhibition and workshops.
The project, created by Jumped Up’s New Creatives, explores out relationships with clothes, celebrates personal style and promotes sustainable fashion.
The exhibition, featuring photos and stories from participants, includes free workshops for ages 12+ starting at 10am.
To sign up for the workshops visit www.jumpeduptheatre.com/style-stories The New Creatives are young people aged 16-24 who have been working with artists to co-design the Style Stories project since November last year.
Those looking to explore their creativity, develop their skills and enhance their CVs are encouraged to join the New Creatives of 2024.
In October, a new group of young creatives will begin a new project focused on environmental themes, with workshops in creative writing, movement, theatre making, and song-writing.
