A weather waning for heavy rain was issued for Peterborough this morning.
The Met Office issued the amber warning, which is in force from 5am today (September 23) until 9pm.
The warning covers parts of central and southern England and is in force across northern Cambridgeshire.
The amber warning is an upgrade to the yellow warning that currently covers the whole of Cambridgeshire.
The Met Office said some areas could see 60-80mm of rain, and a few places may receive 100-120mm or more.
Parts of Cambridgeshire saw heavy thunderstorms on Saturday into Sunday, leading to flooding and road closures.
The Met Office warning states: "An area of heavy rain is expected to develop across central and southern England during the early of hours of Monday, edging north and west and then becoming slow-moving somewhere across the warning area for several hours.
"It will then weaken and move away eastwards later Monday evening and overnight.
"Not all counties within the warning area will be equally affected, but it seems likely that some areas will see 60-80 mm and a few places may receive 100-120mm or more.
"This is likely to result in travel disruption and some flooding. Lightning may be an additional hazard in places."
