A notorious chocolate thief has been jailed after stealing more than £400 worth of confectionery.
Mark Smith, 41, was sentenced to 28 weeks in prison at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court after he was caught on CCTV at a WH Smith shop in Peterborough, stealing large quantities of chocolate on multiple occasions.
Smith, with no fixed residence, was arrested in Hinchcliffe, Orton Goldhay for two counts of theft and for breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) which came into effect after he entered a Tesco in Orton Wistow on August 18.
On top of his custodial sentence, Smith is required to pay £75 in compensation to the shop.
He was also issued a two-year CBO which forbids him from entering any Tesco, Spar, or Co-Op in Peterborough.
