Amazon workers from Peterborough raised nearly £1,000 in a charity boat race for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice.
The members, all from the city's Amazon fulfilment centre, enthusiastically took part in the Dragon Boat Festival, an event they have been patrons of for a number of years.
James House, an Amazon employee who participated in the race, passionately recounted his experience.
He said: “We had a great day at the Dragon Boat Festival, racing across the water and soaking up the sun, all while raising money for Sue Ryder.
"The hospice offers an exceptional standard of care for patients and I’m pleased Amazon is supporting the charity once again with this donation.”
Sue Ryder representative, Asif Shaheed, praised the commitment of the Peterborough Amazon team saying: “We’d like to thank the team at Amazon Peterborough for this donation and for ongoing support of the Peterborough Dragon Boat Festival, where we’ve been the festival charity partner for the last 24 races.
"Support from companies like Amazon means we can be there when it matters for families going through the most difficult times of their lives.”
Amazon's commitment to philanthropic causes doesn't stop at the boat race or hospice support.
It has co-founded the Multibank initiative, which supports needy families by donating over 4 million surplus items to around 400,000 families throughout Great Britain.
Moreover, through Amazon Future Engineer, they have brought free STEM educational programmes to schools, benefiting more than 700,000 UK students.
Amazon Local Good transfers meals and essentials to families in need using Amazon's logistic capability.
The company has partnered with Comic Relief and even hosted the charity’s iconic Red Nose.
Altogether, Amazon has raised a whopping £4.8 million to help fund projects supporting scores of people in the UK and around the world.
