Peterborough City Council's Planning Committee has decided to refuse an application to convert a house into a HMO (house of multiple occupancy).
The council validated the planning application in June 2024, which sought permission to convert a home on 9 Padholme Road in Eastfield into a six-bedroom HMO for nine occupants, with a dormer addition and provision of bin and bike storage facilities.
During the planning process, Peterborough City Council acting as the Local Highways Authority, objected to the planning application on the grounds that the "proposed development would not provide adequate facilities within the curtilage of the site for parking vehicles."
Wildlife officers had no objections to the plans.
On August 14, Peterborough City Council refused the application on the grounds that there would be no "adequate facilities" for parking nearby.
In the notice of refusal, a spokesperson for Peterborough City Council said: "As a consequence, the additional off site vehicle parking pressure generated by the proposed development would likely result in vehicles parking in unsafe locations having an adverse effect on the safety of vehicular or pedestrian users and free flow of traffic on the adjoining public highway."
