A Peterborough firefighter is gearing up for a 'pounds for pull-ups' challenge to raise money for a group of children who currently live in care.
Andy Pryce-Dyer, a full-time firefighter based at Dogsthorpe station, said that he "will not be leaving the gym until they are completed".
His GoFundMe pages states: "These young children have had a neglectful start in life and have parents who aren't able to look after them.
"For every pound donated, I will complete one pull up," he said.
"If I reach my target of 1,000 pull ups, I should be out of the gym within 24 hours, fingers crossed.
"But either way I shall stay in the gym until the task is completed.
"I envisage doing the challenge in November allowing enough time to raise the target of £1,000.
"Any donations will be gratefully received; any money raised will go towards sensory items to help the young people develop after their poor start in life."
