An online-based specialist garden retailer is improving the well-being of Peterborough’s homeless by gifting a range of plants and compost.

Marshalls Garden's donation to the Garden House will provide a quiet outdoor space for the homeless hub’s guests.

The retailer, based in Alconbury, stepped in with its generous contribution when approached by The Light Project Peterborough, the organisation behind The Garden House.

The team at The Garden House has also kickstarted a gardening club.

This hands-on approach offers respite to guests dealing with challenging circumstances.

The Garden House aims to provide an inviting atmosphere and a bright outdoor space for vulnerable people to enjoy.

Marketing manager of Marshalls Garden, Claire Gill, said: "We were approached by the Light Project Peterborough to see if we were able to support them with their latest project, and of course we were only too happy to help.

"Gardening can provide a wonderful world to escape to, as well as relieving feelings of stress and anxiety and we truly believe that everyone should be able to experience the joy it can bring.

"We hope that our donation will go someway to helping some of the guests at the Garden House and look forward to seeing the project thrive."
