The Peterborough Carpetright shop will close its doors as the company goes into administration.

However, Carpetright have managed to sell 54 of its stores to a different retailer to allow the shops to re-open under a new brand - and Peterborough is one of them.

Peterborough Carpetright will now re-open as part of the Tapi group. Tapi is also a carpet and flooring shop.

Carpetright have sold 54 shops and two logistics hubs to cWHP Ltd. who are part of the Tapi group. With the sale, 304 employees have also been transferred over.

A spokesperson for Carpetright said: "The Company has been hit by challenging trading conditions, predominantly due to changing consumer preferences and a drop in home improvement spending post-pandemic.

"The business was also impacted by a cyber attack in April 2024, which had left it unable to trade for a period of time."

The spokesperson added that the sale of the shops and hubs was the "best option available" for the company.
