Pupils from Hampton Lakes Primary School have named three suites at the new state-of-the-art care home, Waterhouse Manor, in Peterborough.

As Waterhouse Manor Care Home, located in Hampton Gardens and part of the Avery Healthcare Group, prepares to welcome its first residents this summer, the involvement of local children has added a "personal and meaningful" touch to the home.

Earlier this year, Natalie Maxwell, home manager at Waterhouse Manor Care Home, visited Hampton Lakes Primary School to hold an assembly about care homes.

Natalie invited the students to participate in a competition to name the home’s three new suites.

The students came up with creative names such as 'The Meadows', reflecting the company name and the surrounding areas of Peterborough.

There was also 'The Lily Pad' and 'The Waterfalls'.

To thank the students for their creativity and participation, Waterhouse Manor Care Home presented the school with a cheque for £250.

"We wanted the children of Hampton Lakes Primary School to name our floors because we love involving our local community," said Natalie.

"As our closest neighbours, this is a wonderful way to build a positive relationship between the young and older generations."

Natalie added, "It was lovely to meet the children and see their excitement about naming our suites. Hampton Lakes Primary School will play a big role at Waterhouse Manor Care Home, and it's heart-warming to talk to our residents about the children's involvement."
