The Cambridgeshire criminals that were jailed in May

These offenders appeared before the courts throughout the month, and will now spend time locked up for their crimes.

Some of the crimes these people committed include strangulation, threatening a family with a fire arm, and dealing drugs.

Martin Newton

Newton spoke with the victim, who became concerned for his welfare, and she arrived at his home to check on him. 

After a disagreement, Newton grabbed a knife, held it to her throat, and put pressure on her neck so that she couldn't call for help.

The victim fortunately got the knife away, but cut her hand in the process.

Newton will spend two years behind bars for his crimes.

Stuart Nichols

Stuart Nichols, 46, was driving a black Renault Megane along Paston Ridings, Peterborough, on Thursday, 20 October 2022, when he struck and killed pedestrian Karl Bradshaw (Image: Police) (Image: Cambridgeshire Police)Stuart Nichols, from Crowland, killed a pedestrian in Peterborough.

The 46-year-old, who is disqualified from driving, was behind the wheel when he struck Karl Bradshaw, a pedestrian who had fallen into the road at Paston Ridings.

Nichols drove off, and Mr Bradshaw was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was jailed for four years and four months, and has been banned from driving for seven years.

Andrjs Vanukovs

Andrjs Vanukovs, of Nene Road, Huntingdon, has been jailed for threatening a family with a firearm in their own home. (Image: Police) (Image: Police)Andrjs Vanukovs, 33, went to a house in Huntingdon with an imitation firearm.

He knocked on the door, and when the homeowner answered, Vanukovs pointed the imitation firearm at him and his young daughter, and went on to smash a window with it.

Vanukovs, from Huntingdon, has landed himself two years in prison for the attack.

Renaldo Denollari 

Ely cannabis farmer Renaldo Denollari has been jailed after police found two bedrooms and a loft containing around 100 mature cannabis plants at his home in Elderberry Close. (Image: Police) (Image: Police)Renaldo Denollari, from Ely, was rumbled by police after a tip off.

Officers visited Denollari's home after members of the public informed them that the 26-year-old may be operating a cannabis factory in his home on Elderberry Close.

They found two bedrooms and a loft containing around 100 mature cannabis plants.

Denollari will spend a year in jail.

Ashley Baker

Ashley Baker, of Wood Street, Doddington, has been jailed for controlling and abusing his partner for seven years. (Image: Police) (Image: Police)Ashley Baker, of Wood Street, Doddington, controlled and abused his partner for seven years.

The 41-year-old made her call him during her lunchbreak from work everyday, forbid her from going to the canteen, forced her to wear certain clothes, and quizzed her on her social life.

He once went into a fit of rage and smashed a coffee table and pinned her up against a wall by her throat.

The barrage of abuse and controlling behaviour committed by Baker saw him jailed for two years and three months.

Jordan Palmer

Jordan Palmer, 31, has landed herself in jail after repeatedly breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order, which bans her from certain shops in Wisbech and March.

She will spend 26 weeks in prison for her offences, which include shoplifting from Farmfoods, Tesco and B&M.

Petrica Mustafa

Petrica Mustafa grabbed the woman from behind. (Image: Cambs Police) (Image: Cambs Police)Petrica Mustafa, from Peterborough, grabbed a woman from behind, forced her to the ground, and snatched her handbag.

The victim had been walking home from work at the time and had been left without a phone after Mustafa made off with it.

Thanks to the work of Cambridgeshire Police officers, they found the victim's phone and arrested Mustafa.

The 30-year-old has been jailed for one year and two months.

Rytis Lisauskas, 32, from Huntingdon, stalked his estranged wife in Peterborough.

He became fixated with her and turned up at her house every day, and one incident resulted in him smashing a window and throwing stones.

It soon emerged that he was previously violent to her, including punching her and pushing her.

Despite bail conditions, he smashed his way into her home and terrified her and her children. 

Lisauskas has since been jailed for three years and two months.
