A man who robbed a party-goer in Millfield last year has been jailed for more than eight years.

At around 5.30am on September 30 last year, response officers were deployed to Century Square, Millfield, after reports of a robbery.

They found the victim, a man in his 40s, outside a block of flats who told officers two men had ambushed him on his way home from a party.

They punched him in the face and the head and stole his watch, mobile phone, bank card, insurance card, and some cigarettes whilst holding something sharp to his throat.

John Hunt, 33, was identified by officers as one of the suspects after reviewing CCTV footage of the incident, resulting in his arrest on 3 October by the Acquisitive Crime Team (ACT).

Two women in their 30s were also arrested in connection with the robbery but have had no further action taken against them.

Hunt, of Westerley Close, Westwood, appeared at Cambridge Crown Court today (May 24) where he was sentenced to eight years and nine weeks after previously being found guilty of robbery.

DC Guiste, who investigated, said: “Robberies can be extremely frightening for victims and I would like to commend the victim for his bravery and cooperation with the investigation.

“Through joint working at an early stage from the initial attending officers to those who made the identifications from CCTV, we were able to swiftly arrest Hunt and put him before the courts.

“The second man remains unidentified, therefore I would like to appeal to the public to get in touch if they have any information as to who he is.”
