A new group is being formed in Peterborough for mothers with children aged 0-4 years old thanks to grant funding from a local charity.
With support from Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and South Lincolnshire Mind (CPSL), the 'mums and tots' group aims to enhance well-being and establish connections with other mothers while the children engage in play.
Anissa Ladha, a perinatal project worker at CPSL Mind, identified a need for additional support especially for mothers with children over 2 years old.
She said: "Through talking to mothers, there appears to be a lack of inclusivity of mum and child groups of this age range in Peterborough.
"Furthermore, for mothers who have more than 1 child under 4 years old, it can be a challenge to find suitable groups for all the children to attend."
Anissa, along with willing volunteers who are also mothers, successfully applied for the CPSL Mind Good Life Fund.
The Good Life Fund offers grants of up to £1500 to people in our local community to help set up groups that connect people, such as book clubs, craft classes, or activities that encourage people to learn new skills.
The group will begin on Monday July 1 on a fortnightly basis during term time only at Gladstone Park Community Centre.
