Darryl Preston has been re-elected as Cambridgeshire Police and Crime Commissioner, having held the role since 2021.

Mr Preston, a Conservative candidate, won the election which took place on May 2, where he was up against Edna Murphy (Liberal Democrats) and Anna Smith (Labour and Co-operative Party).

Of the 164,813 votes cast, Mr Preston received 61,688.

Anna Smith had received 58,304, and Edna Murphy 41,984.

Mr Preston received the highest number of votes in East Cambridgeshire, Fenland, Huntingdonshire, Peterborough, and South Cambridgeshire.

Labour candidate, Anna Smith, took a clear victory in Cambridge City where she secured 50 per cent of the vote.

After his win, Mr Preston said: "I am absolutely delighted to have been re-elected as PCC for the people of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

"It is an honour and a privilege to be able to continue in the role keeping all of our communities safe."

Prior to his re-election, Mr Preston said that his priorities in the role would be to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour and keeping young people out of the criminal justice system.

He pledged to cut the numbers of domestic and sexual violence in the county, reduce rural crime, and promote road safety.

The voter turn out for the Police and Crime Commissioner election across Cambridgeshire was 25.63 per cent.
