The RSPCA is appealing for information after three rabbits were left in a cage outside the charity’s Block Fen Animal Centre.
The trio of female rabbits were found on the morning Tuesday April 9 by staff near to the gates of the animal centre in Wimblington.
The lop rabbits had been left inside an indoor guinea pig cage and they are all young adults.
All three are recovering well from their ordeal and are now being cared for by centre staff.
They have been named Melanie & Miffy (pictured) and Speedy.
The RSPCA is investigating the incident and are keen to trace the driver of an unknown dark coloured vehicle - possibly a van which was caught on CCTV near to the centre on the evening before the abandonment was discovered and who could hold vital information to the investigation.
RSPCA animal rescue officer John Woods, who is investigating, said: “We are now appealing for information and ask that if anyone saw anything in the area at the time to contact our appeals line on 033 123 8018 quoting incident number 01246996.
“Or if anyone knows who might have owned these rabbits.
“We’d particularly like to hear from the driver of the vehicle who was in the area the night before and they may hold vital information.”
