A Peterborough pub is set to re-open its doors with live music next month following a six-figure refurbishment.

The Lime Tree will welcome punters once again from May 2 following investment from pub company, Craft Union.

The pub will host a huge range of new entertainment, including day-time events, music nights, showcasing local talent.

A grand launch party is planned for May 10-12 to mark the much-anticipated re-opening.

The Lime Tree is operated by couple Marie and Mitch, who have been working in the hospitality industry for over 10 years.

Being musicians themselves, the pair have loved bringing their musical touch to the venue.

Having organised live music events since they took over the pub in August last year, locals now enjoy this spot as a popular hub for not only up and coming local bands but more established Peterborough favourites.

When the venue (their local) became available six months ago, the married couple jumped at the chance to run it.

They have done an impressive job of engaging the community with their events and have plenty of plans ahead for their fundraising events for local charitable organisations.

This includes the massive success of their first Pe4fest, with another due to be held in August.

As well as new seating and new flooring, the pub now has two new pool tables and three new darts boards.

The pub also hopes to hold darts competitions for the whole of Peterborough.

The previously un-useable garden area has also been transformed with a fully-renovated deck, new seating, and a new HD screen outside.

Marie and Mitch, operators at The Lime Tree, said: “We can’t wait to welcome our locals back to the new-look pub.

“We were so excited to take on this site last summer, and following the investment, it’s coming back even better than we could’ve imagined.

“We’re really excited to be soundtracking our guests’ summer weekends and can’t wait to see some familiar and new faces at our upcoming events.”

As well as a range of daytime entertainment, Marie and Mitch will be hosting music evenings every Saturday and will bring in their aptly named ‘From 3 at The Tree’ Sunday Sessions.

This will be where guests can enjoy chilled, acoustic music from 3pm onwards on Sunday afternoons throughout the summer months alongside watching all the Euro games.

The pub's grand launch party will see a range of upcoming local artists perform across the weekend.

Friday 10 will see Marie and Mitch themselves performing with their house band The Tour*Ettes, from 9pm onwards, with local Reggae band Zeb Rootz performing from 9pm on the Saturday evening.

Guests can look forward to the first sunday session from 2pm on May 12, with three acoustic acts: Joe Drury, Dan ‘The Piano Man’ and River City Hustle taking the stage outside to soundtrack your chilled-out Sunday.
