The BBC presenter visited over 750 school children from across Peterborough to talk about her new book, 'Beastlands: Race to Frostfall Mountain' on January 25.
The visit was organised by the National Literacy Trust to promote reading and literacy for school children.
Jess visited two schools, St John's Church School and Gladstone Park Community Centre, for the talks.
In total, Jess spoke to 750 school children from St John's Church School, Winyates primary, Braybrook Primary, Leighton Primary, Gladstone Academy, The Beeches Primary and Fulbridge Academy.
Year Five and Six pupils listened to Jess read extracts from the book, ask her questions about her favourite adventures, and ask her where her inspiration comes from.
Pupils also took copies of Jess' book, 'Beastlands: Race to Frostfall Mountain' back to their school libraries.
Jess said she was "ecstatic" to be in Peterborough to speak to school children about her new book.
Becky Marrs, Manager for the National Literacy Trust in Peterborough, said: "We want to bring authors like Jess into the city to ensure all Peterborough pupils can be inspired to enjoy and create fantasy worlds of their own."
