A children's summer activity at the Queensgate Shopping Centre has raised more than £2,500 for a local community project.
The hugely popular Kids’ Kingdom, raised £2,657.12 through entry fees, which the centre has donated to Up The Garden Bath, which is an award winning educational and environmental community project in Peterborough.
Throughout the summer, Up The Garden Bath and Queensgate provided low cost entertainment for children.
Children aged four and above were invited to join in on the fun on this extraordinary journey of imagination where children could step into the world of grown-ups and explore their wildest dreams and aspirations.
Kids Kingdom provided a captivating mini city designed exclusively for children. With a range of immersive activities, young adventurers had the opportunity to experience different careers and embrace their independence.
This included playing doctor at the surgery to designing beautiful bouquets at the florist, or mastering the art of cooking at the pizzeria.
This extraordinary, educational, and interactive experience offered six distinct professions and trades, including a doctor’s surgery, florist, pizzeria, hairdressers, construction site, and supermarket with Up The Garden Bath providing additional, educational, fun planting activities every Monday.
The event cost just £1 for an hour's play and ran from July 31, to August 24.
Up The Garden Bath spokesperson and co-founder Kez Hayes-Palmer said: “It has been a summer of laughter and fun and we tried to create something special that touched so many in a positive way.
"We are so grateful to Queensgate for supporting our cause and the money raised from this event will help us continue our educational and environmental community project and allow us to educate even more people about recycling, gardening, sustainability and wildlife preservation."
Katie Chapman, marketing and commercialisation manager at Queensgate, said “We are thrilled with the response to Kids Kingdom and how much money was raised in total. The money raised is going towards a fantastic cause that will continue to benefit the community of Peterborough. We want to thank everyone for making our summer activity a huge success."
