Nightmare Alley
In cinemas from January 21
Academy Award winning director Guillermo del Toro is back with this psychological thriller. With Bradley Cooper in the lead role, the film focuses on an ambitious carnival worker who has a talent for manipulating people.
Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, and Willem Dafoe also star in this neo-noir adaptation of the 1946 novel by William Lindsay Gresham.
Sing 2
In cinemas from January 28
One for the whole family, the sequel to the 2016 animated hit is finally here. Matthew McConaughey is back as lovable koala Buster Moon, along with his musical buddies.
This time, the group must persuade reclusive rock legend, Clay Calloway (played by real-life musical legend Bono), to join them in performing a new show. The first film was a surprising triumph, full of lovable characters and superb covers, so the second instalment has a lot to live up to.
Belle
In cinemas exclusively between February 4-6
This Japanese animation follows Suzu, a high school student who enters ‘U’, a virtual world on the internet. In this world she redefines herself as Belle, world-famous singer, but comes to face many challenges during her time there.
This is a fantastical coming of age story set in the ever-developing age of social media and is available to watch both with subtitles and dubbed into English.
Uncharted
In cinemas from February 11
A prequel to the hit video game series, this film stars Tom Holland as a young Nathan Drake. With new-found ally Sully, played by Mark Wahlberg, Drake goes in search of a hidden treasure, discovering new information about the disappearance of his older brother along the way. This action-picked flick is sure to be a hit with video game fans as we get a glimpse into the origin of the much-loved character.
The Royal Ballet: Romeo and Juliet
Live screening on February 14
Something a little bit different for cinema goers, and a unique idea for a valentine’s day date, The Royal Ballet’s production of the Shakespeare classic will be broadcast live to cinemas across the country.
The iconic story follows star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet as they fall in love despite an ongoing feud between their families. An evening filled with breath-taking dancing, sword fighting and, of course, tragedy is the perfect way to spend valentine’s evening.
Cyrano
In cinemas from February 25
The latest film by director Joe Wright, famous for hits such as Pride & Prejudice and Anna Karenina, Cyrano tells the story of a writer hopelessly in love. His love is unrequited, as Roxanne instead falls in love with young Christian at first sight. ,
Unable to admit his true feelings to Roxanne, Cyrano instead helps to bring the young couple together by writing love letters for Christian to send. Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage stars, and rumours of possible Oscar nominations are already spreading.
