Throughout 2023 the charity that runs East Community Centre, Light House Community Group CIO have put on a number of free craft activities for local children throughout the school holidays.

Throughout the year they have provided themed craft sessions such as for Christmas, a superhero day, an emergency services day, an Egyptian day and an Easter themed day

All sessions are free, including supplies, and there were gift bags and lunches.

The charity's coordinator for this project, Kimberly Lavery, said: “It is so important for local families to have a place to go and have some quality family time together, get creative and enjoy spending a few hours together without the financial pressure.

"Our recent Christmas craft session was great fun with some attending in fancy dress, competitions for the children as well as providing free gift bags and Christmas presents to all the children attending.

"During the current cost of living crisis, children can often miss out on things like this as families have far more pressing things to spend their family budget on.

"It has been a pleasure running these sessions this year especially our most popular one which was our emergency services day. Cambridgeshire Constabulary joined that session to talk to the children about what they do.

"We would like to thank everyone that has attended one of our sessions or supported us this year and look forward to sessions returning in 2024."
