Nominations for the city council’s Civic Awards for 2024 are now open.

The scheme was set up to recognise anyone making a positive difference to their local communities in Peterborough

If you know an individual who always goes above and beyond or a group including a resident, business or charity,  that is making a positive difference in your community, then you can recognise their efforts by nominating them for a Civic Award. The nominations end on September 30.

The award categories are:

• Young Person Award (18 and under)

• Lifetime Achievement Award

• Community Involvement Award

• Business Award

• Outstanding Commitment to the Environment Award

• Contribution to Art and Culture Award

• Contribution to Sport Award.

More information on each award, and nomination forms, can be here.

The forms are also available from the civic office - please ask for an officer at the Town Hall reception in Bridge Street. They can also be sent by email to: susan.proctor@peterborough.gov.uk or posted to: Sue Proctor, Civic Office, Peterborough City Council, Town Hall, Peterborough, PE1 1HG.

Following the deadline date all the nominations will be passed to the council’s constitution and ethics committee who will meet in November to draw up a shortlist of finalists and select the winners within each award category.

These winners of the awards will be announced at a council meeting and following this, the winners, their nominators and guests will then be invited to a special presentation evening, normally held in March.

Cllr Peter Hiller, chair of the council’s constitution and ethics committee, said: “The Civic Awards are a great way to celebrate those who make a positive contribution to Peterborough, but don’t always get the recognition they deserve.

“I would urge anyone who knows an individual or organisation which deserves an award to submit a nomination form before the deadline.”
